Former Canadian intermediate boxing champion John “Smokey” Stevenson of St. John’s passed away recently in Alberta.

Stevenson, won the 1988 national intermediate title at the nationals staged at Bro. Rice High School gym in St. John’s.

Stevenson also represented Canada internationally in Italy and Bulgaria. He represented Newfoundland and Labrador in the Canada Winter Games.
