Family of Missing St. John’s Man Receive New Tool to Help Search Efforts

The family of a St. John’s man who went missing following a hiking trip in BC nearly two months ago has received a new “heat map” that may help with search efforts.

Jordan Naterer went for a solo hike over the Thanksgiving weekend but never returned. It was initially unknown where he went hiking, but it was later determined that he had been in Manning Park.

Jordan’s sister, Julia Naterer, says her family hired a BC-based company that performs aeriel surveys. The family has just received new footage from a fly-over of the entire area.

There is a lot of footage to comb through, and Naterer says the more eyes on it, the better.

Naterer says even as Jordan’s sister it can hard keeping up with all of the updates, especially being so far away from the volunteers who are searching on the ground, but the family still has hope they will find Jordan.

She says a huge snowstorm which hit BC mid-November was upsetting for the family, as it became more difficult for volunteers to continue searching, and clues that may have been present may have been covered.

Julia says the family isn’t blinded by hope, and they know they may need to expect the worst, but they are still holding out for more answers.

Support has been pouring in for the family through social media. Naterer says people have been sharing photos of candles being lit in honour of her brother.
