Richard To Run In Moncton Ward 4

A longtime NB Power employee and active community volunteer is seeking a seat on Moncton City Council.

Paul Richard says he’s running again in Ward 4 in the upcoming municipal election.

He lost a 2016 byelection by only 20 votes to replace the late Rene “Pepsi” Landry.

Susan Edgett won the seat.

Paul Pellerin is currently the other councillor in Ward 4.

Richard originally announced his intentions a year ago but the pandemic postponed the election until this May.

“I’m hearing from people in the ward and across the city that Ward 4 needs stronger leadership,” Richard says.

“I’m committed to serving the people of Ward 4 by being responsive to their needs and being present for them. I’ll respond to emails, respond to calls and meet with constituents, something that I believe hasn’t been happening to its full capacity since 2016. It shouldn’t have to be said that constituents deserve to have their calls returned, but sadly it does. People deserve better. I’ve been keeping tabs on what Ward 4 residents have been saying since the byelection and they definitely want better representation.”

“I’ve always been very involved in the community,” says Richard. “I’ve always believed that it’s important to give back. It’s how our community grows and prospers. After investing thousands of hours of volunteer time and a 32-year career working with others, I believe I’m more than qualified to step up and be part of the day-to-day decision-making process on city council.”
